Blue Mountains Day Trip

A full-day excursion to the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, starting with an early morning wildlife encounter. Clients get up close to a koala, hand-feed kangaroos, and see wombats, dingoes, and native birds. It’s the kind of experience that ticks a big box for international travellers right at the start of the trip.

Lunch is at a charming cafe in the heart of the mountains, surrounded by locals rather than tourist crowds. Then it’s on to Scenic World for the Scenic Railway, Cableway, and Skyway – a genuinely impressive way to take in the steep valleys, canyons, and the Three Sisters from multiple angles. The Rainforest boardwalk on the valley floor adds a different texture to the day.

The return to Sydney is by river cruise along the Parramatta River, passing through harbourside suburbs before arriving at Darling Harbour or Circular Quay. It’s a relaxed end to a full day.

Full Day Sydney City Sights – Bondi Beach & Manly Beach

A thorough introduction to Sydney, combining the morning Magical Manly & Beyond tour with the afternoon Bondi Beach & Sydney Sights tour. The driver guide provides expert commentary as clients travel through suburbs, each with its own character and history.

The morning crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge with a stop at Milsons Point for that classic view back to the Opera House. Then on to North Head for uninterrupted Pacific Ocean views and a panorama of the harbour and city skyline. There’s time to stroll along the Corso and walk the golden sand at Manly. After a two-hour lunch break, the afternoon takes in The Rocks historic district, Mrs Macquarie’s Chair for a different harbour perspective, South Head and the clifftop known as The Gap, and finally Bondi Beach.

The return to the city passes through the eastern suburbs of Double Bay, Edgecliff, and Rushcutters Bay.

Trade tip: This is a long but rewarding day that covers both sides of Sydney’s harbour and coastline. The two-hour lunch break in the middle makes a real difference – clients don’t feel herded. It works particularly well for first-time visitors who want to get their bearings before any free time.

Sydney to Ayers Rock & Uluru Sunset

Check out of the Sydney hotel and transfer to the domestic airport for the flight to Ayers Rock. The contrast could not be more dramatic – cosmopolitan harbour city to red desert in a few hours. On arrival, clients use the resort shuttle to reach their accommodation at the Desert Gardens Hotel or similar for two nights, including breakfast.

In the late afternoon, the Uluru Sacred Sites & Sunset Tour begins. Clients travel by coach around the base of Uluru with a driver guide who shares the incredible history and Aboriginal stories stretching back thousands of years. There’s ancient rock art to see, explanations of local flora and fauna, and insight into the culture of the traditional owners, the Anangu.

The day finishes with sparkling wine and nibbles as the sun sets behind Uluru. If clients take a photo every few minutes, they’ll capture the famous colour change – the rock shifting through orange, red, and deep purple.

Trade tip: The afternoon sunset tour is perfectly timed for clients arriving on morning flights from Sydney. It means they hit the ground running in the outback without wasting half a day. The sunset experience is emotional for many travellers – it’s often cited as the single most memorable moment of an Australian trip.

Uluru Sunrise Field of Light & Sounds of Silence Dinner

This is one of those days where two world-class experiences bookend a restful afternoon. It starts early – very early. Hotel pickup is 1 hour 45 minutes before sunrise for the Field of Light Sunrise experience. In the pre-dawn darkness, under a blanket of stars, clients walk through Bruce Munro’s Field of Light installation – over 50,000 stems of light gently pulsing with colour across the desert floor. Just before sunrise, they’re welcomed to a raised viewing area for tea, coffee, or hot chocolate as the sun floods the landscape with warm light. Tour duration is approximately two hours including transfers.

The afternoon is free for rest or optional activities around the resort.

Then comes the evening’s centrepiece – the Sounds of Silence dinner. Entered into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame, this is four magical hours of dining under the outback sky. It begins with canapes and drinks as the sun sets, followed by a buffet BBQ with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks. After dessert, a resident storyteller shares tales written in the stars, and guests stargaze with a guide. Return transfers to the resort are included.

Trade tip: The Field of Light and Sounds of Silence combination is genuinely special. Two distinctly different experiences of the same landscape – one in silent pre-dawn darkness, the other under a canopy of stars. The free afternoon between them is important. Clients need the downtime, and the anticipation builds. This is the day that sells Uluru.

Ayers Rock to Cairns

Check out of the hotel and transfer to Ayers Rock Airport for the flight to Cairns. Another dramatic landscape shift – from arid red desert to lush tropical coast. On arrival at Cairns Airport, clients are transferred to the Shangri-La Hotel The Marina Cairns or similar for four nights, including breakfast.

The rest of the day is free. Cairns’ Esplanade lagoon, the night markets, and the marina boardwalk are all within easy walking distance and offer a relaxed way to acclimatise to the tropics.

Trade tip: Four nights in Cairns gives this itinerary a more relaxed pace than many competitors. Clients have time to actually enjoy the destination rather than rushing between activities. The Shangri-La’s marina location puts them right in the heart of things without needing transfers for dining or evening activities.

Outer Barrier Reef Cruise

The hero day of the Cairns leg. Clients are transferred to Port Douglas to board Quicksilver’s wave-piercing catamaran for a cruise to the renowned Agincourt Reef – situated right on the edge of Australia’s Continental Shelf. This is the outer reef, not a near-shore reef. The difference in water clarity and coral quality is significant.

At the spacious reef activity platform, clients choose how they want to experience the reef. Snorkelling equipment and qualified safety officers are provided. There’s an underwater observatory, semi-submersible coral viewing vessels, and fish feeding conducted by crew. A marine biologist gives a reef presentation on board. Morning and afternoon tea plus a hot and cold tropical buffet lunch are included.

For non-swimmers, the observatory and semi-submersibles mean they won’t miss out. Optional helicopter tours over the reef are also available.

Trade tip: Agincourt Reef is consistently one of the best outer reef sites accessible by day trip. The Quicksilver platform is well-established and the operation is polished – important for FIT clients who expect a certain standard. The Port Douglas departure adds a scenic coastal drive through cane fields and rainforest, which clients appreciate.

Kuranda Scenic Rail, Rainforestation & Skyrail

A full day that packs in several iconic Tropical North Queensland experiences. It starts with hotel pickup and a Kuranda Boarding Pass that includes preferential Scenic Railway seating, a map of Kuranda, and discounted entry to selected attractions.

The Kuranda Scenic Railway is one of the world’s most scenic rail routes – hand-hewn tunnels, bridges spanning spectacular gorges, and dense rainforest pressing in from both sides. At Kuranda Village, there’s time to explore the Heritage Markets and the eclectic local shops.

Then it’s a shuttle to Rainforestation, set in 40 hectares of tropical rainforest. Clients board an amphibious Army Duck for a rainforest tour, join the Dreamtime Walk for insight into Aboriginal culture, and watch the Pamagirri Dancers perform traditional dances in the Rainforest Amphitheatre. A BBQ lunch is included, followed by a visit to the Koala & Wildlife Park where guests can hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies.

The return is via Skyrail Rainforest Cableway – gliding over the rainforest canopy with stops along the way for boardwalks and the CSIRO Interpretive Centre.

Trade tip: The Scenic Railway up and Skyrail down (or vice versa) is the classic Kuranda combination, and for good reason. Each offers a completely different perspective of the same rainforest. The Army Duck and Pamagirri Dancers at Rainforestation add cultural depth that international clients value. This day is consistently rated highly across all source markets.

Free Day in Cairns

A deliberate pause in the itinerary. After a packed reef day and a full Kuranda experience, a free day lets clients catch their breath and explore Cairns on their own terms. Some will head to the Esplanade lagoon and local markets. Others might book an optional experience.

There are plenty of options if clients want to stay active: a Daintree Rainforest day trip, a hot air balloon over the Atherton Tablelands, white-water rafting on the Tully or Barron River, or simply a morning snorkelling trip to a different reef location.

Trade tip: Free days are sometimes undervalued in itinerary planning, but they matter. This is the day where clients buy souvenirs, revisit something they loved, or discover something unexpected. It also provides a buffer in case weather disrupts the reef day – you can swap them if needed. We can pre-arrange optional activities or leave it genuinely open depending on client preference.

Depart Cairns

Transfer to Cairns Airport for the onward flight. For clients continuing their Australian journey, this itinerary connects naturally to Melbourne, the Gold Coast, Tasmania, or the Northern Territory. For those heading home, Cairns has direct international connections to several Asian hub cities, making onward routing straightforward.
