Into the Reserve The first full day of walking begins in earnest, following the coast into the Bay of Fires Conservation Area. Guides introduce the surrounding landscape, its Aboriginal heritage, and the ecology of this remarkable stretch of shoreline. The day ends at a secluded standing camp, comfortable and well appointed.
Forest, Lagoon & Wilderness The walk moves between coastal forest and sheltered lagoons, with opportunities to spot native birdlife and, with luck, wallabies along the way. The terrain offers variety, from soft sand to firmer inland tracks. By late afternoon, guests reach the eco-lodge, where dinner and rest await.
From the Lodge to the Coast The day continues along the granite-fringed shoreline, with the distinctive orange lichen-covered boulders that give the Bay of Fires its name lining the route. Long stretches of empty white sand and clear water make for memorable walking, with guides sharing the natural and cultural history of this protected coast.
Coastal Mornings & the Journey Home A final unhurried morning takes in the last stretches of beach and headland before the walk concludes. Guests transfer back to Launceston, arriving with time to continue their Tasmanian journey or connect onward. The drive winds back through the northeast countryside, a quiet contrast to the wild coastline left behind.
