The Top End, Northern Territory
Top End Safari Camp sits on a private property off the Finniss River system in the Peninsular Way region, north-west of Litchfield National Park. It’s approximately 1.5 hours from Darwin via the Cox Peninsula and Fogg Bay Roads. The landscape here is pure Top End – vast floodplains stretching to the horizon, paperbark-lined waterways, and a density of wildlife that’s hard to overstate. Saltwater crocodiles, water buffalo, jabiru storks, sea eagles. All of it right there.
The operation offers two core products for the travel trade: a day tour combining scenic helicopter flights, airboat rides, billabong cruises, and crocodile encounters, and an overnight experience that adds sunset dining on an open-air deck, stargazing around a fire pit, and glamping in deluxe lotus belle tents. There’s also a standalone wet season croc encounter tour. With only 10 tents on site and small group sizes, this is an intimate, high-impact experience – the kind of thing that makes a Northern Territory itinerary genuinely memorable rather than just another national park tick.

TOUR OPTIONS
What Your Clients Can Experience
Top End Safari Camp Day Tour
This is the signature day experience and it packs a lot in. Clients get a scenic helicopter flight over the floodplains, a thrilling airboat ride through channels and into the rainforest spotting crocodiles, birds, and buffalo, followed by a billabong cruise. There’s a gourmet BBQ lunch and time to relax on the pontoon, which features Australia’s only nature-based croc safe swimming cage. The day wraps up with an encounter and feeding session with one of the monster rescue crocodiles caught by Outback Wrangler Matt Wright.
Coach pick-ups start at 7:20AM in Darwin City, with the tour beginning at 9:30AM at the property. The half-day on-site runs for approximately 4 hours, with total time including transfers around 7 hours. BYO alcohol is permitted for activities.
The tour operates year-round on Thursday through Monday. Wet season times may shift depending on conditions.
Trade tip: This is a strong add-on for clients with a day free in Darwin. The combination of helicopter, airboat, and croc encounter in a single day is genuinely hard to find elsewhere. It works particularly well for international travellers who want that quintessential Top End wildlife experience without a multi-day commitment.

Overnight Outback Glamping Experience
Everything from the day tour, plus a sunset cheese board on the sky deck overlooking the floodplains, gourmet dinner under the stars, fire pit stargazing, and a night in one of the deluxe lotus belle tents. BBQ breakfast the following morning before departure.
The tents are widely spread across the property for privacy. Each one is spacious with modern earthy furnishings, a double bed, outdoor open-air shower, private deck, plush towels, and locally sourced bathroom amenities. Only 10 tents on site, so group sizes stay small and the whole thing feels authentic rather than manufactured.
Self-drive or return air-conditioned coach transfers from Darwin City are included. One rollaway bed per tent is permitted for families with children aged 4 to 14.
Trade tip: The overnight option transforms this from a great day out into a standout itinerary moment. For incentive groups and luxury FIT clients, the sunset dinner and glamping combination is genuinely special. The small tent numbers mean it also works well for exclusive group bookings. Note the blockout dates: 22 December to 3 January and 1 February to 28 February.

Crocs In The Wild
A wet season offering for crocodile enthusiasts. This is a focused, 90-minute experience running daily from 8:00AM to 9:30AM. It includes a 45-minute airboat ride, wild crocodile encounters throughout Sweets Lagoon and the Finniss River Floodplains, an introduction to crocodile behaviour, and an up-close feeding session with Matt Wright’s monster rescue crocs.
This isn’t the full day tour – it’s a tighter, more targeted product. But for clients who specifically want to get as close to wild saltwater crocodiles as safely possible, it delivers.
Trade tip: Worth knowing about for clients travelling during the wet season when other options in the Top End may be limited by weather. The early morning start means it can slot into a Darwin itinerary without consuming a full day. It pairs well with an afternoon Litchfield National Park visit or city-based cultural experience.
